The Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) is a mandatory test for individuals seeking pharmacy licensure in the United States with a pharmacy degree from another country. It is part of the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) Certification Program, which requires candidates to also pass the TOEFL iBT. The FPGEC program is open to pharmacy graduates from over 200 countries. Certification from FPGEC is necessary for non-US pharmacy graduates before they can obtain pharmacy licensure in states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam.

The FPGEE consists of 250 questions from four main content areas: Clinical sciences (35%), Pharmaceutical sciences (29%), Basic biomedical sciences (21%), and Social, behavioral, administrative pharmacy sciences (15%). Candidates must achieve a score of 75 or higher on the exam to be granted FPGEC certification. The exam duration is five hours and 30 minutes, with a mandatory 30-minute break during the test session.

The exam is held twice yearly, typically in the spring and fall, at over 200 Pearson VUE test centers nationwide. Registration for the FPGEE can be done online at www.napb.net following approval by the FPGEC, signifying eligibility to take the exam. The exam fee is included in the FPGEC application fee of $800.
